Google Image is one of the powerful image search engines online and it is probably one of the first options students head to when searching for images to use in their multimedia projects.Of course, there other several other great platforms for searching for images to use for educational purposes but today I want to focus on Google Image and share with you some overlooked tips that students need to pay heed to when searching for images. Using these tips, students will be able to :
- Search images by usage rights
- Search images by type
- Search image with specific set of colours
- Search image by size
1- Search for Image by Usage Rights
Using this feature, students will be able to search for only images that can be re-used and thus avoid copyright issues. Here is how they can search for licensed images: After they type in their query, they click on " search tools" button and select one of the options from "Usage Rights" tab.
2- Search Image by Type
This feature allows students to search for a specific type of an image. They types supported are : face, photo, clip art, line drawing, and animated. To access this feature, they need to click on "search tools" and select one of the options from "Type" tab.
3- Search by Image Colour
This feature allows students to look for images with specific colour attributes. They can choose between any colour, full colour, black and white or transparent. To access this feature they need to click on "search tools" and select one of the options from the "colour" tab.
4- Search Image by Size
Using this feature, students will be able to search images by size. to access this feature they need to click on "search tools" and select one of the options from the "size" tab.
