4 New Science Apps for Kids

April 8, 2014
Today while I was sifting through the recent releases in the category of education I came across these awesome apps that science teachers can use with their students. For more science apps I recommend that you check out this resource.

1- Shout Science

Shout Science! is a comic storybook app for young readers (ages 7-11) about scientists & scientific discovery by Scott Dubois. It consists of three narrative biographies that take place during the Scientific Revolution in Europe. The stories both entertain and educate on relevant science and history concepts. Shout Science was designed exclusively for the iPad and combines vertical scrolling panels with ambient animation, interaction, and sound to enhance reading comprehension. Each story also includes a supplemental page of reference images and timelines.
2- Meet Science

‘Meet Science’ inspires all school-aged kids to explore fundamental concepts of Magnetism and Electricity (1st Edition) with variety of fun features such as animations, experiments, and mini-games.
3- Bill Ney The Science Guy

Bill Nye The Science Guy® 20th Anniversary App—of Science! Science rules, especially when you grab a seat at The Science Guy's desk and help yourself to heaping handfuls of science. Just scan your thumb to gain entrance to Nye Labs, the most amazing, scientifically fascinating place on Earth (and possibly beyond!). Twenty orbits around the sun and 28 Emmys along the way—now that's something to celebrate!
4- DIY Sun Science

The DIY Sun Science app, funded by NASA, allows families and educators to investigate and learn about the Sun at home, at school, or anywhere you go! This app is the second in a series (including DIY Nano) that provides over a dozen free, easy to use, hands-on activities. Plus, view live images of the Sun from NASA’s SDO satellite, videos of the Sun, and much more! Each activity includes material lists, step-by-step instructions, and detailed explanations. The activity materials are widely available and inexpensive—you probably have many of them in your own home.
